A cat once found wandering outside in search of warmth and food is ready to find someone she can trust and a lap she can call her own.

Earlier this year, a Good Samaritan noticed a cat wandering the neighborhood, wearing a collar with tags.

When they saw her again sometime later, the collar was gone. This time, the cat approached them, clearly seeking warmth and food. Without hesitation, the finder stepped in, doing everything they could to keep her safe and cared for.

When Clifton Animal Shelter learned about her situation, they immediately offered their support.

“She was found outside, quietly trying to survive on her own, and we believe she was likely abandoned,” the shelter shared.

Estimated to be around four years old, the cat, named Mitzi, arrived at the shelter. The staff welcomed her with open arms and made it their mission to find her a loving home, where she would be cherished and never again feel forgotten.

Mitzi quickly adjusted to her new surroundings. With nourishing meals and proper care, including dental treatment, her true personality began to shine. She revealed herself to be gentle, easygoing, and quietly affectionate.

Mitzi clearly thrives in a calm, quiet environment. She doesn’t rush into affection; instead, she approaches it on her own terms. Once she feels safe, she seeks out a cozy lap to settle into. “She loves laps, but she has to initiate everything,” Liz of Clifton Animal Shelter shared.

She has the perfect blend of quiet companionship and gentle affection, the kind of cat who naturally draws people in. She enjoys being near her humans, calmly observing the world around her. “She prefers a gentle, slow approach, but once she trusts you, she’ll happily choose your lap on her own.”

As her confidence grows, she has already selected a volunteer for cozy snuggles.

“She made herself completely at home right in Kait’s lap, soaking up every bit of attention like she’s been doing it forever. No hesitation, no second-guessing. She just climbed up, settled in, and decided this was exactly where she belonged.”
